This summer we’re counting down what we believe are the Top 50 memorable sports moments for Chandler, AZ prep athletes and alumni during the 2012/13 sports seasons. Coming in at 49: Hamilton High’s Zack Strand hits a home run in a game against Mesquite High at Chase Field.
Exactly two months ago, Hamilton baseball spent the morning of their prom at Chase Field playing a game against the Mesquite Wildcats. MHS pitcher Matt Heibult had found a way to stall the potent Hamilton offense in what ended up being a 3-1 Wildcat win, but the one run the Huskies did manage to score is one that these players likely won’t ever forget.
Corner infielder Zack Strand (Sr.) stepped up to the plate in the second inning, and… well, watch for yourself.
Here’s our tweet immediately following his home run… hopefully he’s forgiven us for misspelling his name.
Zach Strand just homered at Chase Field. He’ll remember that forever. 1-1 after Strand’s 380 foot bomb to left.

Strand told CTR “It was the greatest feeling running around those bases, touching home, and seeing all my teammates go crazy. It’s something I’ll never forget.”
Make sure to check back tomorrow as we continue to count down the top 50 memorable sports moments of 2012/13.
